Our approach to carbon neutrality comes from our commitment to our people, our communities and our environment. Hence, we operate our businesses in the most carbon efficient ways and have been officially carbon neutral since 2011.

Our Sustainability Milestones

  • 1995Introducing the First Sustainability Initiatives

    After our current Chairman Heinrich Jessen joined the family business the year before to build an ‘Environment, Health & Safety’ (EHS) department, the Group commences educational initiatives, providing training, guidelines, responsibilities, and continuous support.

  • 2001Introducing our ISO14001/OHSAS18001 Initiative

    To address variations in performance across our member companies, we introduced our ISO14001/OHSA18001 initiative. This initiative standardised commitment, ensuring consistency and reducing dependency on individual leaders and managers.

  • 2007'Meet a Need' Programme

    Our current Chairman Heinrich Jessen created our impactful CSR programme, ‘Meet a Need’, addressing and fulfilling various societal and environmental needs, making a positive difference in the places in which our businesses operate.

  • 2012Becoming Carbon Neutral

    Jebsen & Jessen Group celebrates becoming officially carbon neutral as the first company in Asia. After having introduced a tool to accurately measure our emissions by collecting data on carbon emissions across the Group we offset the 2011 carbon emissions in 2012.

  • 2016IMD-Lombard Odier Global Family Business Award

    The Jebsen & Jessen Family Enterprise received the prestigious 21st annual IMD-Lombard Odier Global Family Business Award, recognising its outstanding dedication to sustainability and efforts to make a positive impact on the environment and society. In the same year, Heinrich Jessen was honoured as Singapore’s Businessman of the Year for his pioneering leadership in advancing corporate sustainability.

  • 2019Signing a Family Business Sustainability Pledge

    On behalf of the Group, Chairman Heinrich Jessen signs the Family Business Network (FBN) / United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Family Business Sustainability Pledge.

  • 2023Our Group's First Sustainability Report

    Jebsen & Jessen Group publishes the 2022 sustainability report, its first group-wide sustainability report using a recognised framework.
